Scottish Silver Iona Viking Longship Spoons Robert Allison Alexander Ritchie
Lovely very rare and highly ornate vintage Alexander Ritchie Iona style set of six sterling silver demi spoons from Robert Allison. The finial is shaped after a viking/lord of the isles galley carving taken from an Celtic Iona grave headstone (many similar examples are widespread on the north and west coasts of Scotland) and is widely regarded as one of the Alexander Ritchie most iconic Iona symbols (Allison was a great admirer).
The stems have interlacing Celtic knotwork. The workmanship is outstanding and the spoons are in excellent condition. Each Individual finial has the stamps RA (Robert Allison) and hallmarks for Glasgow letter X (1946-47) on the rear.
