For sale is an antique Victorian period (1880s) sterling silver brooch featuring Scottish agates and a large faceted Cairngorm citrine gemstone. This form of Scottish pin is known as a'plaid' brooch, and it was traditionally worn on the shoulder to pin plaid material together. As was common during this period the brooch is unmarked however it has been tested and confirmed to be made from Sterling grade silver (92.5%). It measures 2 inches in diameter, the citrine gemstone measures 1.8 cm in diameter, and the brooch weighs a total of 24.61 grams.
Overall a beautiful Scottish agate brooch in excellent wearable condition. Please be aware that this is an antique item and so it will display wear commensurate with its age and previous use. This includes surface scratches, indentations to the front and back (images 8 + 9), citrine gemstone inclusions, and large areas of tarnishing.
