Antique Sterling Silver & Hardstone Scottish Saltire Brooch/Pin -1 7/8 x 1 5/8

Antique Sterling Silver and Hardstone Saltire Brooch. This beautiful brooch has a sterling silver frame and back.

It is in the form of the Scottish Saltire or Saint Andrews cross which appears on the national flag of Scotland. The cross is set with 2 hardstones - one being brick red (Agate I believe) and the other a blend of green and brown. The centre is mounted with a crown and this is set with 3 faceted Citrines. Unfortunately, as is often the case with Scottish jewellery, there are no hallmarks but, having personally tested this piece, I will fully guarantee that the frame is made from sterling grade silver. From its style, I would estimate this brooch to date to around the start of the 20.

Century and is probably Victorian. This piece is in lovely condition with no damage to the silver and the clasp works well and holds securely. The only issue to the stones is a hairline fracture to the green/brown section on the top left but this is barely visible and, because it's encased with silver, very stable (please see the photos).

All aspects are shown in the photos and reflected in the asking price for this quite rare piece. Height - 4.2 cm 1. Width - 4.8 cm 1. Please see the photos below which will enlarge if clicked on and feel free to get in touch with any questions.
