The Scottish agate amalgamate beautifully together in an array of patterned earthy rustic tones of translucent to opaque reddish brown, orange, and some with narrow white bands. The natural agate are set with a textured sterling silver cap each end and silver jump rings connect in-between.
The silver is unmarked, however tests indicate sterling silver- many of the these Victorian Scottish bracelets were not hallmarked. A bolt ring is attached and appears to be a later addition. Scottish pebble jewellery was made popular again in the nineteenth century due Queen Victoria adorning Scottish jewellery and her frequent visits to her Scottish Castle Balmoral. A wonderful piece of Scottish history with beautiful all round workmanship! The bracelet would make a special addition to any collection! 8 inches (20cm) total length. The overall condition of the bracelet is very good. Besides normal surface wear, the silver caps appear firm on the agate stone and the solid rings unharmed. The agate is superb with no visible chips or cracks, although worth a mention is one end agate which has a minor natural surface fissure due to a surface reaching inclusion.
