Antique VICTORIAN-era Sterling Silver SCOTTISH CAIRNGORM CITRINE & AGATE BROOCH
Victorian Scottish Sterling Silver Cairngorm & Amethyst Crown Shield Brooch. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN STERLING SILVER SCOTTISH CAIRNGORM & AGATE PREBBLE BROOCH. A wonderful antique Scottish brooch from the Victorian era, c1870! Hand wrought in sterling silver, the oval shaped brooch features various inlaid segments of natural agate and jasper stones, as well, one stunning citrine stone dazzling at the centre. Perfectly matched from opposite sides along the oval border, the Scottish-mined stones include dark green bloodstone, greyish white Montrose Agate and brownish red jasper. Sitting proudly in an upswept prong scalloped setting is a faceted oval-cut brownish orange citrine gemstone. The citrine is likely native to Scotland's Cairngorm mountains, and often referred to as Cairngorm quartz.
A good-sized stone measuring approx. 19mm x 14.20mm, 7.65mm deep, the estimated weight of the citrine by calculation is 12.00 carats. Indicative of earth mined material, there are some natural internal inclusions which can just be seen under the table of the stone. A hand engraved silver lip decorates the inner border of the brooch, adding further Victorian charm! A sturdy pin and c-catch attaches to the back, as well remnants of a rivet can be seen to the top.
In character to many 19th century sterling Scottish pieces, no hallmarks or stamps are sighted to the piece - tests indicate sterling silver. A spectacular piece of of Scottish history which would make an impressive accessory to the scarf, lapel, or wherever you desire to show it off! Central Cairngorm Citrine faceted oval-shape measuring 19.00mm long x 14.20mm wide, 7.65mm of orange brown hue, eye clean material, 12.00 carats estimated weight. Eight segments of mixed jasper & agate stones - all natural material of dark green bloodstone, greyish white Montrose Agate and brownish red jasper.
5.80cm (2 & 1/4") x 5.00cm (2"). The condition of the brooch is excellent.
Besides normal surface wear, the brooch presents in fabulous condition for it's 150+ year age! All stone inlays appear secure and undamaged. The citrine is secure and also in superb condition with no abrasion or nicks.
There does appear to be one claw tip off, albeit does not compromise the security of the stone. This item is in the category "Jewellery & Watches\Vintage & Antique Jewellery\Brooches & Pins". The seller is "beryl-lane" and is located in this country: AU.
