We love this unusual antique, Victorian era Scottish agate and silver cross brooch. It has such a design made up of smooth polished sections of various different agates including banded agate across the middle forming the cross and a rich inky black outer ring. The cool silver bezel frame encasing the agates perfectly, it has a smooth stone backed reverse. A particularly lovely example, very versatile and can be worn in many ways with a lovely unique design. It is a fairly large sized brooch and it has an old C type clasp and pin fastener. Unmarked, tests as sterling silver, Victorian era, c1880s. Good used condition overall, some light surface wear commensurate with age, some tiny nibble of the back to the agate.
