Attractive Scottish Silver Orkney Brooch Ola Gorie c. 1970s MEASHOWE DRAGON

This is a sterling silver Orkney brooch from Scotland and is in very condition with beautiful modernist design of the MEASHOWE DRAGON c. 1970s - size 33mms x 39mms with locking clasp weighing 14.8 grams - stamped "Silver" and is a design made famous by Orkney silversmith Ola Gorie - also stamped "OMG" makers mark.

Carved by Viking visitors a thousand years ago on the wall of Orkney's great Neolithic monument, Maeshowe. A perennial favourite, this was Ola Gorie's first ever jewellery design, launched in 1960.
