GLASGOW c1891 ANTIQUE 19thC SCOTTISH VICTORIAN SOLID STERLING SILVER ZODIAC BOWL. An antique Scottish solid sterling silver Zodiac bowl, assayed in Glasgow. Dating to the 19th Century mid Victorian period, circa 1873. The bowl has been expertly hand engraved and chased around detailed repousse zodiac panels, the base with detailed foliate motifs, the inner surface retaining its gold gilt wash. The quatrefoil shaped cartouche to the side is engraved with a'Sun in Splendour' (16 rays) crest. The underside of the bowl is hallmarked as follows. Silver grade: Lion Rampant mark for 925 sterling silver. Cm or 2 7/8 inches. Cm or 3 7/16 inches. Weight: 134 grams, 4.308 ozt.
