IONA Scottish Silver Luckenbooth Heart Pendant & Chain by John Henderson
A luckenbooth is a traditional piece of Scottish jewellery and is designed with a heart shape topped with a crown and signifies a token of love. The reverse of the brooch is stamped SILVER IONA SCOTLAND with the monogram J. John Hart was a member of the CAI (Celtic Arts Industries) established in Glasgow in 1945 producing works inspired by the celtic designs of Alexander Ritchie.

Members of this group set out to revive the art of the Scottish silversmith. CAI employed several silversmiths who went on to become well known in their own right: Iain MacCormick, Malachy Gormley and John Hart. The pendant measures 2.5 cm / 1 inch x 1.5 cm / 0.7 inches.

The traditional chain measures 62 cm when laid out flat as a single strand on a flat surface. When worn the length of the chain is 31 cm in length. The chain has a secure ring clasp which opens and closes with no issues. The pendant and chain weighs 7.3 g. This super pendant and chain will be provided in a vintage jewellery box and would make a super addition to a collection of Scottish jewellery.

It would also make a lovely gift either to yourself or to another. This item has had a previous life and may show signs of wear and tear commensurate with age. If I spot any issues these will be included in the description or in the photos of the item.

Please check these before purchasing. We are happy to post outside of the UK.
