Scottish Antique Silver Salver, Ship In Distress, John Heron, Glasgow 1826
Fabulous and interesting large solid silver salver by John Heron. Nice crisp hallmarks for Glasgow 1826. The large salver measures 34.5 cm in diameter and weighs 1250 grams. One thought I had was that this might depict the sinking of "The Comet II" off Gourock in 1825 but this is merely a fanciful guess. The maker John Heron is associated with that area. Perhaps someone else may have a better thought?
