Scottish Provincial Silver. Silver mounted Cowrie Shell Snuff Box. Ca. 1800

Exceptionally rare silver mounted Cowrie Shell Snuff Box. With a Mother of Pearl tablet in the lid. No hallmarks, but I would date it to around 1800.

No scratches or dents to the silver. A couple of tiny marks to the Mother of Pearl as can be seen in photos.

Inscribed Archibald Wallace in period script. Length 6.7cm, width 5.2cm, height 3.2cm. The total weight is 71.6g. I have never before seen one of these boxes with a MOP insert.
