Scottish Robert Allison Celtic Sterling Silver Brooch Pin With Five Gemstones

This is a vintage Celtic Robert Allison sterling silver and gemstone pin or brooch. This beautiful shield or targe brooch features five stunning gemstones in an ornate open frame with Celtic designs. The back is hallmarked with the thistle of Scotland, the castle of Edinburgh and a date letter that I can't make out. The maker's mark is RA in a circle for Robert Allison, noted Scottish designer and silversmith in the traditions of Iona and Alexander Ritchie. Please scroll down to see more photos.

This handsome piece measures 1 5/8 across and weighs 14 grams on my little scale. It is in very good condition, with normal signs of use and some tarnish. There are no dings, dents or bends, and the stones have no problems to report. The dark areas you see are reflections from my camera.
