Styled on the conche shell this set of three Scottish Antique tri Footed Sterling Silver Salts are delightful. Hallmarked for Edinburgh 1899 by Hamilton & Inches.
After 123 years, they still have their glass liners which are all but perfect except one which has a very small nibble to the rim Please see photo no. Not easy to see it but worthy of note. Each salt is footed to the base with three conche shell feet, a lovely repeat of the shell theme. Two other points worthy of mention is that one of the salts has lost its inner guilding but it is shielded by the glass insert so not noticeable.A second salt has several dark blemishes/ spots to the outer front of the piece. Pretty sure they can be removed but I prefer to mention these things. All commensurate with age and I may be being over critical but accurate. Overall Condition is very good.
Each shell weighs 38/9 grams approx with each glass insert adding an additional 45 grams. Total weight of all three is 308 grams so individually each salt weighs a little over 100 GM's including glass. These stylish salts will grace any table aswell as having the added attraction of being being Hallmarked Scottish sterling, always collectible.
