OFTEN GIVEN AS WEDDING FAVOURS IN THE 40s AND 50s THESE BROOCHES CAME IN 2 SHADES OF ENAMEL ONE DARKER (GENERALLY THE MALE BROOCH) AND ONE LIGHTER. 37mm HIGH AND WIDE WITH CENTRAL THISTLE INSIDE A WAVY HEART WITH CELTIC SCROLLWORK ENGRAVED ON THE BORDER. LIGHTER BLUE ENAMELLING SURROUNDS THE WORD ALBA WITH A DARKER BLUE BACKGROUND FOR THE THISTLE. TO THE BACK THE ORIGINAL C TYPE CLASP AND PIN AND BOTH IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH AN ALMOST AS NEW FEEL. MARKINGS ARE LOVELY ON THIS PIECE WITH I. C MAKERS MARK AND IONA MARK TO THE TOP AND SILVER MARK AND CAI STAMP TO THE BOTTOM. 15.07g IN WEIGHT THIS IS THE MALE BROOCH.
