Victorian Scottish Silver Banded Agate Link Bracelet Late 1880s Sterling Pebble
Victorian Scottish Silver Banded Agate Link Bracelet Late 1880s Sterling Pebble. From about the 1890s (or a little earlier) this bracelet in engraved silver with beautifully sculpted links of agate is a wonderful example of Victorian "pebble" or "specimen" jewelry. Scottish motifs became very popular in Queen Victoria's day and with the workmanship, design and versatile colors of the beautiful stones, a bracelet like this is just as wearable today and even more collectible. Translucent in the lighter areas, the colorful agates are very appealing and the silver bands connecting the stone links have different hand engraved flowers on each.

It is further detailed down to the curving shapes of the agates and the carving on their tops near the ends. The agates are slightly concave on the undersides so the bracelet conforms to the contours of your arm and lays perfectly on the wrist.

With the gorgeous stones, it looks fabulous on. It is not signed or hallmarked (as is proper for this type of Scottish jewelry). It acid tests as sterling or a slightly lower grade of silver. The bracelet is in Very Good vintage condition with just the surface scratches, dirt and tarnish that might be expected for its considerable age.

The following are mentioned only for completeness: there is extremely minor and inconsequential roughness here and there at the edges of some of the stones. Some of the pins that hold the links may have been replaced over time and there is a slight bend in the silver at the underside of the receiving end of the clasp, which must have been done deliberately in the making as it works perfectly. There are absolutely no flaws of consequence and the bracelet is a knockout! It weighs 26.6 grams. It measures about 6-7/8" (wearable length) by about 7/16" wide by about a little over 1/4 deep.

Classic and elegant; dramatic and striking, this bracelet goes with everything, from jeans to a cocktail dress, and always looks just right. It would also make a terrific gift. You could bear to part with it, and will come to you gift boxed, just in case.

Made with the careful attention to design, workmanship and choice of material for which Scottish Victorian Jewelry is known, this handsome bracelet will be a superb addition to a collection. Please see our other listings for more great vintage jewelry. Both methods include gift box. International buyers aware of the rules and expenses of importing into their country are welcome.
