Vintage Pat Cheney for Ortak Scottish Sterling Silver and Enamel Dangle Earrings
Stunning vintage silver and enamel drop earrings by renowned Scottish jewellery designer, Pat Cheney for Ortak, featuring abstract silver flared drops, highlighted with enamels in bright turquoise and royal blue. Pat Cheney trained in Fine Art at Falmouth College of Art and in 1976 she launched Pat Cheney Jewellery, with many of her pieces influenced by the Art-Nouveau and Art Deco periods. In 1990, she relinquished Pat Cheney Jewellery Ltd to Ortak in Kirkwall where some of her designs are still manufactured. The earrings are stamped for 925 and with the maker's mark of MG for Malcolm Gray on the reverse. There are no other marks. These dramatic earrings, measuring nearly 5cms long and weighing 5.1g, certainly make a statement and are a fine example of work by a renowned British designer.
