Vintage Scottish Hallmarked Sterling Silver Luckenbooth Crowned Heart Brooch. Measures approximately 5.5 cms in height by 3.8 cm. It weighs approximately - 8.8gms. Beautiful, vintage, sterling silver'luckenbooth' sweetheart brooch.

Hallmarks are Thistle, Castle and what looks like letter N? For year - Also stamped Made in Scotland and JC for makers mark.

These brooches were exchanged between lovers on betrothal and were also placed on babies shawls to protect them from evil spirits. Passed down the generations in Scottish families, the heart is significant for love, and the crown from Mary Queen of Scots.
