Vintage Solid Sterling Silver Brooch, (1948) Scottish Celtic Knot Design

This fine vintage solid sterling silver brooch is being offered for sale within the U. The Celtic Knot design brooch has an approximately one and a half inch diameter, has Birmingham Assay Office marks on its back and dates to 1948. It has the Celtic Knot design and was traditionally used as a plaid pin by Scots to attach the kilt corner end to the material on one shoulder.

Items of this vintage with appropriate hallmarks and showing strong Celtic and Sottish provenance are generally rather scarce and remain very collectable. The vintage brooch is in very good condition. It shows little of the wear and scuffs sometimes associated with vintage items and has been obviously well looked after during the last 70 years or so. There is a small dent on one of the outer round shapes on the front of the brooch.
